Tonight, I think, is a wonderful opportunity to savor the marvel of living in this particular age. The next visitor will be Comet ATLAS, not due to return for 600,000 years. After reading articles from NASA and related sources, if you look up at the sky in that brief moment when the night begins after sunset (apparently, the visible point of Comet ATLAS is quite close to the horizon), you might be able to have a conversation with ATLAS — a comet that has traveled from so far away over tens of thousands of years, and having finished greeting the sun, now begins to trace its way back along an unfathomably long journey home.
